Countless people end up being misunderstood and getting into trouble just because they don't understand how to effectively use the medium especially when it comes to email and message boards. I can imagine that in the future there will be more wisdom and obvious rules than there are today as a matter of common knowledge. Compared to TV the internet is far more complex and potent and look how TV broadcasts have developed from their basic beginnings.nondisclosed_email@example.com (MarkNA)Fri, 09 Jul 2004 17:27:43 +0000 Re: The gap between words and actionshttps://bcinemaseekersforum.runboard.com/p156602,from=rss#post156602https://bcinemaseekersforum.runboard.com/p156602,from=rss#post156602[edit] looking back at my post it was a bit cryptic...I meant that any ideals need also to be applied in order to have worth. On the other hand art & design is a matter of taste and a different issue. I am not sure which of these is the problem you mention.nondisclosed_email@example.com (MarkNA)Mon, 31 May 2004 20:38:38 +0000 Re: The gap between words and actionshttps://bcinemaseekersforum.runboard.com/p156601,from=rss#post156601https://bcinemaseekersforum.runboard.com/p156601,from=rss#post156601Hi Ecarner, Money lenders in the temple? Is it what's being done, the way in which it's being done, or a bit of both that is causing your concern here? Personally I haven't spotted the banners that you refer to, but any film maker has to promote their work somehow and unfortunately we all have to exist, to a certain extent anyhow, within the tyranny of a capitalist, commercial organisation of society. As long as there's no prostitution of your art then promotion doesn't seem that unreasonable. I would presume that any funds accrued are most likely put toward funding further projects of a similar nature including the costs of running and maintaining this site. I don't form the impression that our hosts here are aiming for a lifestyle of champagne and limosines. Could you be a bit more specific about your concerns? I'm not sure I'm getting quite what you mean.nondisclosed_email@example.com (PursuedByTrees)Sun, 30 May 2004 09:07:00 +0000 The gap between words and actionshttps://bcinemaseekersforum.runboard.com/p156600,from=rss#post156600https://bcinemaseekersforum.runboard.com/p156600,from=rss#post156600This site has such a strong, almost fanatical, spiritual message that occasionally I come online just to read and regain inspiration. But what is really tragic are these awful, cheesy banners advertising the DVD Return to Light, with insulting marketing techniques such as Introductory Offer and quotes from insignificant newspapers. Surely there is a conflict between your lofty minded spiritual goals and the commercialism here.nondisclosed_email@example.com (ecarner)Sat, 29 May 2004 14:38:51 +0000
